Education and engagement

About this page

We are committed to educating and engaging others in helping to look after the coast.

To this end, we undertake a range of communication activities, which aim to inform people about our work and coastal issues in general as the first step in educating and engaing them in caring for the coast.

This website is a key component of our communication program along with our social media strategy, which currently comprises Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and FlickR pages.

Our Great Ocean Road Coast News e-newsletter is produced monthly to keep people regularly informed about what’s happening along our coast in relation to our work, our volunteer groups and partners, events, issues and other topics.

We also produce a range of other publications - including fact sheets, various reports and plans - and issue media releases to communicate major news and key initiatives to the broader community.

In December 2008, we secured a $40,500 Federal Government Caring for our Country Community Coastcare Grant, to fund a range of community education and engagement activities aimed at helping local communities to help the coast along the Great Ocean Road.

Some of the grant has funded the development of this website while the remainder will be used for an educational project involving schools, local coastal volunteers and coast users. Stay tuned!
