Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority

Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority

On 1 December 2020 GORCC transitioned to the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority.

The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is initially an amalgamation of GORCC and the Otway Coast Committee (OCC).

The transfer of other coastal public land parcels to the Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority will happen progressively over several years, with the authority committed to working with existing land managers and volunteer groups to ensure valued local community facilities continue to be maintained ongoing.

Caravan Parks

All caravan parks on Crown land within Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority footprint were previously managed by GORCC and OCC, with the exception of Skenes Creek, Kennett River, Marengo and Cumberland River caravan parks which were managed under lease from the Committees of Management by private leaseholders.

Following a thorough review in 2019, OCC decided to resume direct management of the Skenes Creek, Kennett River and Marengo caravan parks at the expiry of the current leases in November 2020.

There will be no changes for existing site holders or holidaymakers at these parks, and staff are working to ensure the parks are ready for guests.

In May 2018 OCC wrote to the lessees of the caravan parks at Kennett River, Skenes Creek and Marengo advising they were reviewing the future operation of the parks once the leases expire in November 2020.  The existing leaseholders have had a year to plan for the transition.

The leaseholder of the Cumberland River Caravan Park has in excess of 15 years on its current lease.
