Progress report 26 August 2010

  • The construction of the new Torquay foreshore public toilet block (on The Esplanade between Bell Street and Price Street) is on track to meet its October 2010 completion date.
  • The brick work has been completed and carpentry work is currently underway.
  • Work will soon start on installing the plumbing.

Progress report 20 July 2010

  • Work has started on demolishing the old public toilet block on The Esplanade foreshore between Bell and Price Street. Read our media release.

  • The Jan Juc beach access improvement works have been completed.
  • Some 30 decking planks have been replaced on the old Lorne Pier to improve safety.

Progress report 5 May 2010

  • Works to improve access to Jan Juc beach from the top tier car park viewing platform and the bottom tier car park near the public toilet block are scheduled to commence in mid to late May. The works will be carried out by Mani Yarta Environmental Structures and are expected to take two weeks. Although the works may cause some slight disruptions to normal access, beach users will still be able to access the beach via one of the two access points during the construction period.

  • Rebuilding of Sandy Gully beach access steps has been completed.
  • Quotes are being sought to rebuild the Jan Juc beach access steps.
  • Work has finished on installing the new vehicle barriers in Point Roadknight beach car park.
  • Jan Juc's popular three-tier car park was completely resealed with a new hot-mix pavement before the peak season.
