The owners of Bomboras Cafe Bar and Pizzeria in Torquay have been selected by GORCC as the preferred operator for the new kiosk at Fishermans Beach subject to Ministerial approval. Read the full media release.
Progress report 7 September 2011
Construction on the redevelopment is progressing well. The project is running to budget and is on track to be finished by Christmas this year.
The structural steel work is now complete, and significant progress has been made on the Marine Rescue building while the main building is also well underway and road works and civil works are on program.
Additionally, the new access roadway into the precinct is now open.

Community Announcement 23 May 2011
The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee would like to advise that the normal entry road to the Fishermans Beach precinct is now closed due to construction work for the Fishermans Beach Redevelopment. This entry point is now required for the safe entry and exit of construction plant , equipment and materials for the project duration.
The normal exit road from the precinct will temporarily become a two-way entry and exit while a permanent new entry point is constructed as part of the project. Signs are in place to assist and direct traffic and motorists are advised to take care when entering and exiting the area.
Progress report 20 April 2011
The contract for the redevelopment of Fishermans Beach has been signed paving the way for the construction of a versatile community and recreational precinct in Torquay.
The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee signed the contract for the redevelopment with commercial builders Behmer and Wright this week and work is expected to begin in May.
Progress report 24 March 2011
Funding for the Fishermans Beach Redevelopment has been secured following the Surf Coast Shire’s commitment of $200,000 to the project.
The final, revised plans have now been approved and construction pricing is currently being negotiated. Construction is expected to begin in May.

Progress report 14 February 2011
The final plan, which is now complete, was recently submitted to and approved by the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee. The plan is currently being assessed by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee has submitted an application for a planning amendment to the Surf Coast Shire
The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee has been and will continue to liaise with key stakeholders including the Torquay Angling Club and The Torquay Marine Rescue Service, regarding the final plans and the project in general.

GORCC has announced that final plans for the Fishermans Beach Redevelopment will be completed by mid-December and focus on community facilities, better public access and improved traffic flow. Read the media release here.
