Lorne pool precinct redevelopment

About this page

Information about the redevelopment of the pool precinct on the Lorne foreshore.

Ten years of work by GORCC and its predecessor (Lorne Foreshore Committee) to redevelop the Lorne swimming pool and surrounding precinct finally came to fruition in late 2009 when the site's 21-year lease was finalised.

The precinct, prominently located on the Lorne foreshore, includes the Lorne swimming pool and trampolines, and the Beach Bar and Grill cafe and kiosk. The site is highly valued by Lorne locals and visitors so the level of interest in its future is very strong.

Under the approved redevelopment plans, the precinct will be upgraded to provide a range of improved amenity, recreational and associated activities, which will benefit users.

While much of the redevelopment is being funded by the developers, Andrew and Kathy Landos, the State Government has provided a $200,000 grant to fund improvements to the pool's facilities and infrastructure. These include a new water play area, leisure water space, new change rooms, first aid room, upgrades to the pool's pipes, pumps and overall infrastructure, and improved access for people with disabilities.

We are very grateful to the Victorian Government for providing this funding, and to the Surf Coast Shire, LorneCH and the many other Lorne community groups and individuals who worked with us to support improvements to the swimming pool.
