Information for event organisers
About this page
Find out why you need to apply for a permit to hold your event on the coast.
Each year a range of groups and organisations conduct a number of small to large-scale community and commercial events along the coast between Torquay and Lorne. These events include:
* arts performances
* beach volleyball
* community festivals
* community sporting events
* cycling and on-road events
* fun runs
* life saving events
* marathons
* outdoor concerts
* product promotions and launches
* sailing events
* surfing contests, and
* triathlons
among many others.
Such events require event organisers to apply to GORCC for a permit. The simple application process aims to inform organisers about the requirements for holding events on Crown land coastal reserves.
As well as telling us about the nature of the event, organisers need to outline how they will manage rubbish and recycling issues, along with traffic management, access to the foreshore and a number of other important matters.
Events on the coast are important for local communities and other organisations. However, because of the popularity of our coastal reserves, especially at peak times, we need to assess each application to ensure it is suitable for the coast.
