GORCC has established a new office in Torquay.
The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee has established a new office in Torquay.
The new office is within the boundaries of the Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park (which is managed by the Committee) but fronts onto Bell Street..jpg)
The new office houses GORCC's small management team who oversee the work of the Committee. Previously these staff were located within the caravan park offices in Torquay and Lorne. It was decided to bring this team together at the one location. The new office is separate from the caravan park offices and is more accessible to the public with its frontage on the popular Bell Street.
Five staff work out of the office, including the Executive Officer, Business Manager, Coast Manager, Project Officer and Assistant.
The new office is a moveable dwelling. It was constructed in Melbourne and then trucked down in 2 halves and installed on site. This is a cost effective option. The office was purchased via finance so the cost can be spread over five years.
The office opened in early May 2007.
Sustainability features, including double-glazed windows, compact flourescent lightglobes and a rainwater tank to flush the toilet are installed in the new office. Solar power is under investigation.
