Caravan Park Upgrades

GORCC is working on plans to upgrade the Torquay and Lorne Caravan Parks. The aim is to improve the performance of the parks from a social, economic and environmental perspective, including providing new and improved facilities and services for our many thousands of visitors.

As a first step, assessments of the various assets (roads, buildings, toilets, power, sewage, drainage etc) has been undertaken. This has identified priorities for works on these assets.

The Caravan and Camping Parks on Coastal Crown Land Reference Group report was recently released. It highlights a number of recommendations about management of crown land caravan parks. Many of these recommendations are relevant to GORCC's parks in Torquay and Lorne. The report and a summary of its recommendations can be found on the DSE website. www.dse.vic.gov.au/coasts

As part of the 2006/07 State budget, the Government announced $4.8 million over 4 years for an improvement program for crown land caravan parks. GORCC has received several grants to assist with the upgrades process.
