The GORCC Committee is appointed by the Victorian Government for a three year term.

A volunteer, skills based Committee oversees the work of the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee.

Committee members are appointed by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change following a public expression of interest process.

The Committee's key responsibilities include:

GORCC meets monthly with executive support provided by staff. Sub-committees guide key activities and include key staff and Committee members with appropriate skills and interests.

Membership

Peter AndersonPeter Anderson (Chair) was formerly a General Manager with VicUrban having worked for eight years with that organization and its predecessor Melbourne Docklands Authority. Peter has over 20 years experience in local government in Victoria, over 10 years as Chief Executive including a four year term as Chief Executive Officer of the Surf Coast Shire. Peter commenced his own consultancy business in January 2007, is a Justice of the Peace and resides in Torquay.


Dennis Barker is Director ' Sustainable Communities, with Surf Coast Shire. His professional experience spans 5 years in private enterprise and 25 years in local government. He was previously a member of the former Lorne Foreshore Committee of Management. Dennis resides in Geelong.


Peter Bauerle brings broad-based senior management experience, having worked for the past 14 years in operations, governance and human resources. In his current role as General Manager with Geelong-based Harwood Andrews Lawyers, he is responsible for managing the firm’s day-to-day operations and administration as well as the implementation of strategic business initiatives and plans.


John Carlile is chairman of Australia’s first industry superannuation fund, LUCRF SUPER where he is active in compliance, audit and investments. He has 30 years previous experience in agri-business production, marketing and international trade, including responsibility at management and board level. Current community activities include Director of Administration with the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club.


Simon Coverdale has extensive knowledge and experience in coastal management in Victoria, having previously worked with the Western Coastal Board, Victorian Coastal Council and Department of Sustainability and Environment. He currently works as a consultant with international professional services company GHD Pty Ltd.


  Linton Drever is a Principal with Geelong law firm Harwood Andrews Lawyers. He brings substantial legal expertise  and knowledge of public land management issues, along with business and financial accounting skills. He also has strong local community connections through his involvement with the Torquay Junior Football Club and the Torquay Boardriders Club.


 

As former President Asia Pacific with global surf brand Quiksilver, Clive Fitts brings substantial knowledge and experience in business and coast-related recreation. His sporting achievements span surfing, outrigging, running and other pursuits.


Kathy Landos has lived and operated local businesses in Lorne for 15 years and is the joint director of her own development & investment company. She has spent the last 5 years serving on various local community groups such as Friends of Lorne, the Pier Focus Group and is a former School Councillor at Lorne P-12 College. Kathy, her husband and two children now reside between Lorne and Geelong.




Peter LavisPeter Lavis is Commercial Manager Victoria/Tasmania for Australia Post. Prior to his current appointment, Peter had spent some thirty years in the property and construction industries in both the private and public (Federal and State) sectors.


 

Ken Northwood is an experienced strategic, business and urban planner. Having worked in local government for 15 years, he established his own consulting firm in 1992. He works on major infrastructure and strategic projects throughout Victoria.

 


Vanessa Schernickau is an experienced Human Resources and Organisational Development consultant with fifteen years experience in public and private sector HR roles, including senior management HR roles in local government. Vanessa completed her Masters dissertation in strategic workforce planning and holds a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Development. Vanessa lives in Aireys Inlet.




Joe TaylorJoe Taylor is director of a public relations and research business. He is active on coastal and marine conservation issues in Victoria and South Australia and made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Marine National Parks. Joe resides in Jan Juc.




Sally Sneddon and Bill Fox served on the Committee from 2008 - 2009, but resigned in April 2009.
