Coastal grants

Our annual Coastal Grants Program aims to support local groups and individuals in helping to care for the coast.

Applications for Community grants are now closed.

Each year we provide $10,000 in grant funds towards approved environmental and community activities in coastal areas under our management. Eligible individuals, community groups and organisations are invited to apply for a Coastal Grant during two funding rounds held in February/March and August/September.

The program aims to provide up to $5,000 each round to support initiatives focused on looking after our local coast and communities.

Grants are open to any individual, group or organisation who wishes to undertake an approved environmental or community activity in a coastal area. Previous grant rounds have funded a diverse range of projects, from the procurement of tools and cigarette butt bins to weed control, revegetation, educational projects and coastal events.

Projects must have a coastal focus and be related to the 37km of Crown foreshore land between Torquay and Lorne managed by GORCC. The application process is managed by Surf Coast Shire as part of its Community Grants program.

Please note that previously successful applicants are required to complete a GORCC Community Grants Project Report within one year of funding. Community groups will not be considered eligible for future funding if the report has not been completed.
