The financial support of government and others helps our work to look after the coast.

Erskine River Caravan Park Sewage Pump Station (Department of Sustainability and Environment)

This project will replace ageing infrastructure and ensure no pollution enters the beautiful Erskine River.
The Park has received a $40,000 grant from The Department of Sustainability and Environment's Coastal Risk Management Grant Scheme to replace the old pump station and ensure the protection of the environment, guests and the park for the future.  Work on the pump station is expected to finish in early December before peak season starts.

Maintenance Review of the Erskine River Swing Bridge (Department of Sustainability and Environment)

The heritage listed Lorne Swing Bridge spans the Erskine River and is used as a network to access the township of Lorne and the Lorne Foreshore by many visitors and local community members.  The bridge is ageing and requires routine maintenance inspections to ensure it continues to be safe for pedestrians.   The Department of Sustainability and Environment has granted $8000 to engage an engineer to perform a routine maintenance review of the bridge so any structural issues can be promptly identified.

Great Ocean Road Renewal Program (Federal Government)

This three-year, $1.35 million program - which is supported by funding from the Australian Government - will deliver four discrete projects. The program seeks to address four of the biggest coastal issues identified in our 2007 Environment and Land Management Plan: environmental weeds, conservation and celebration of Aboriginal cultural heritage, climate change impacts and increasing demand for coastal recreation facilities.

Helping communities help our coast (Federal Government)

The Federal Government's Caring for Our Country Community Coastcare 2008/2009 grants program provided $40,500 for our Helping communities help the coast along the Great Ocean Road project. This new project will aim to engage locals and visitors in working more actively to protect the coast by increasing awareness, understanding, skills and participation. It will comprise a range of activities including new educational resources, field days and workshops, surveys, knowledge sharing networks and coastcare programs (e.g. weed control, dune restoration, rehabilitation and protection of native vegetation).

Improving camper facilities in Lorne (Department of Sustainability and Environment)

GORCC received $100,000 through DSE's Crown Land Caravan and Camping Ground Improvement Program to help fund a new camper amenity block for Lorne's Kia Ora camping ground. To be undertaken as a high priority element of the Lorne Foreshore Caravan Park upgrade, the project will deliver a better amenity block, camp kitchen, playground and BBQ area that will significantly improve visitor amenities and facilities in this popular Lorne camping ground.
